Building Your Reading Muscles: December 14, 2018

Focus: How do we build our reading muscles?

1. Warming up with your final IXL reviews of 2018, tag-team!

  • Sentences, fragments, and run-ons
  • Phrases and clauses
  • Nouns
  • Semicolons, colons, and commas
  • Verb tenses

2. Enjoying your final day of reading your independent book; if you have not yet done so, please complete your book review.

OR researching a myth from your "culture" and sending it to me.

  • What groups do you belong to? Ethnicity? Religion? Hobbies, gifts, and passions?
  • What heroes can you find in your groups / culture?
  • Can you find an online text of one of your hero's stories? Send it to me!

3. Concluding with my final grade math:

89.50% = A -
89.49 = B +

79.50% = B -
79/49 = C +

HW:
1. Look over the exam review sheet I gave you a few weeks ago to help you figure out how to prepare.

2. Show up on time for our final exam, which is on Thursday, December 20 at 8:25 am. Bring the following items with you:

  • Your hero's journey book
  • Your synthesis essay (the copy with my feedback and rubric)
  • The prep sheet you're creating on Monday
  • A pen or pencil
