Deletewelcome
ReplyDeletesup dude?
Deletewhy does no one in this society want children?
ReplyDelete“No one in their right mind… would have children” (92)
I think all people want to do is drive fast and watch Tv, and if they have children to look after they have to put a lot of their focus towards their children.
Deletethey probably only think of themselves
Deletebecause the world messed up
DeleteI feel like kids are a burden that no one feels the need to take care of anymore. Or maybe the society is running out of resources so it's advised to not have kids anymore.
DeleteI feel like part of the reason why they don't want children is because they do not feel like children bring any benefits into any aspects of marriage. Also Mildred constantly refers to the "parlor" as her family so maybe she feels like the children on the TV are her family.
DeleteI think it is because they would rather have virtual families then real kids
Deleteeverybody does the same thing over and over and they do what the government tells them to do which means having kids isn't on their agenda
DeleteI think people are too wrapped up in themselves in this society. Even Mildred referred to the people on the parlor walls as her family. I think that people don't feel the need to have kids or a family because the actors fill that role in their lives.
DeleteDo people really support being all the same and if so how did people change to accept that?
ReplyDeleteI don't think people are all the same honestly.
DeleteProbably the government was sick of people killing each other over beliefs so they removed beliefs completely
DeleteI don't think they are all the same. I think they just took away things that can offend people even if it's the slightest bit offending.
DeleteI don't think that everybody should be the same and I think most people would agree with me because if everybody was the same then life wouldn't be interesting u wouldn't have a good shot at anything and I don't think there is anything that could change my mind about that.
DeleteI don't think these people support being the same, I just don't think they know any other way to be. They may all appear to be the same because they aren't given anything that would give them opinions. I believe all people in this society feel a missing piece of their life because they aren't free to think differently, which is why mental illness is so relevant.
DeleteWhat do you think Beatty did before he became a fireman? He seems to know a lot about books and the old world. On page 103, Beatty quotes many different books from memory. If he is the lead fireman, how does he know so much about books.
ReplyDeleteI think that Beatty was brainwashed after he started to read books and really understand the books.
DeleteMaybe Beatty was like Montag when he was younger. Maybe he was interested in books and wanted to rebel against the law, but he was stopped by someone and now he is on the other side of things.
DeleteBeatty could have been someone who read a lot before the book ban. Or maybe he´s read some books that he took from burning down houses.
DeleteI imagine he could have been alive before all of this started happening when he became a fireman he was probably an avid reader and wanted to retain that knowledge for the future.
Delete¨We've stopped in front of my house¨ pg 106. What do you think is going through Montag's mind right now? How do you think the next section of the book is going to start?
ReplyDeleteI think Montag is wondering what flaw happened in his plan, or who decided to "turn him in"
DeleteI think he knows something is up and he might be aware of something that has happened in his past that we don't know about that could be problematic.
DeleteHow is Montag feeling?
ReplyDeletegood
Deleteok thanks
DeleteI think that he feels betrayed. His entire life has been a fraud. He is realizing that things need to change, but he is scared.
DeleteI think he feels very guilty and betrayed
Delete"Montag go through with this and ill cut off, ill leave,"-Faber pg.95 do you think the ladies will go snitching to the firemen on montag for telling poem stories?
ReplyDeleteit's hard to tell if they were interested or disturbed
DeleteOh yeah they're probably big snitches and Montag will most definitely be getting stitches

ReplyDeleteDid Captain Beatty bring Montag to his house to set an example by burning his house or to give him a final warning?
ReplyDeleteprobably burn his house because just before that he told Mildred's friends a poem from a book
DeleteI think he will teach Montag a lesson by burning his house
DeleteFinal warning bro. Burning down houses aint cool!
Delete"Montag looked up. Beatty never drove, but he was driving tonight." (page 106) why do you think Bradbury decided to include this small detail, why is it important that Beatty is driving?
ReplyDeleteFaber states on page 95, "Montag, go through with this and I'll cut off, I'll leave... " what does this mean for Montag?
ReplyDeleteIt means Faber will leave Montag. Montag would then be without a job and anyone to talk to about his problem.
DeleteHow long has this society been without book?
ReplyDelete*books
DeleteNot sure if the book says how long, but it has to have been long enough for people to forget that firemen used to put out fires rather than set them.
DeleteI don´t think it ever says
Deletedefiantly long enough ago to fill up an entire generations life span because it seems some people are unaware of life before this.
DeleteFor decades maybe centuries
DeleteFaber once says how historians haven't necessarily worked in 40 years, so in the elders lifetime but not recent for montag.
Delete"Once a year, Every fireman's allowed to bring one book home from the old days, to show his family how silly it all wss. Isn't that right darling?"- Mildred. Do you think Mildred is just trying to cover up for Montag or does she genuinely believe that?
ReplyDeleteI think she believes that because she's always looking at walls and I think thats silly
DeleteMildred is starting to think on her own and this might be the first time when Mildren lies, I do not think the firemen are allowed to bring books home.
DeleteAfter Montag reads the poem, "The Sea of Faith" (on page 96) why does one of Mildreds friend start to cry? "Mrs. Phelps was crying". (97). Is is because she understands the poem and its hardships or is it because she understands the importance of the knowledge in the book?
ReplyDeleteI don't think she understood it, but writing is meant to move people. She probably didn't understand anything that was said, but just the way the poem was written was different enough to overload her emotions.

Deletei think she understands the importance and knowledge books possess and i think montag just made her see how big the world can be
Delete"What traitors books can be! you think they're backing you up, and they turn on you." Pg. 104
ReplyDeleteIn this society it seems like people don't really connect with others but in today's society people back stab you all the time. I guess what I'm asking is how did Captain Beatty get close enough to books to the point where they would backstab you?
Maybe he read something in a book that led him to a false conclusion about something. It seems like their society has suffered before this. Books could've given Beatty false hope so he despises them for what their society has become.
DeleteIf books are banned, then how about films?
ReplyDeleteBecause books are so hard to comprehend for people in the society, why can they comprehend tv shows?
ReplyDeleteI think that the government feels like they can control what is put on the tv, and they probably filter it down to bare basics. Possibly able to spread propaganda as well
Delete"Silly words, silly words, silly awful hurting words // why do people want to hurt people? Not enough hurt in the world, you got to tease people with stuff like that!" In this scene, Mrs. Phelps seems to care a lot about the poem. Why is she making it so negative? She also notices that there's hurt in her world. Why does she seem so oblivious of it and care so little when she cares so much about the poem?
