In the both the Truman Show and F451, the feeling of being watched and losing their female guidance drive our protagonists o escape from their lives through a body of water.
ReplyDeleteI like how specific this is! Complex ideas here. One suggestion: Can you phrase this so that it states what these works want us to understand better or differently? For ex: Both works show how being watched and rejecting fake guidance (or false love, or whatever you want to call it) are key to escaping ...controlling society (or something else).
DeletePeter Weir, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Ray Bradbury spin their language to assert that human nature is to fall back upon the negative, and yet there are ways to break free from a defeatist attitude; if we can learn to live in the present, go after what we want, and focus on the positive, we can stop the cycle of pessimism.
ReplyDeleteComplex thesis, and I love how you're weaving in these literary ideas with something that's so important to you.
DeleteIn both the Truman Show and Fahrenheit 451 the protagonists confused emotions and desire for purpose drives them to desert their "perfect" lives.
ReplyDeleteGreat start! My recap of what we talked about in class: Write your outline, then try to specify "confused emotions."
DeleteIn the movie “The Truman Show,” and the novel “Fahrenheit 451,” the author continuously chooses to question whether safety or freedom is more important by displaying themes of mindlessness, and the primal human need know what is beyond.
ReplyDeleteFantastic ideas here...my only suggestion is to solidify the connection between them. For example, can you state which one is more important according to these texts: safety or freedom? Then, you can assert how mindlessness and the primal human need to know what is beyond relate to this idea.
DeleteBoth the Truman Show and Fahrenheit 451 show that curiosity leads to an enlightening journey which brings people to a better life.
ReplyDeleteGreat revision! Looks awesome.

ReplyDeleteIn both the The Truman Show and F451, the main characters need for purpose and their growth in creativity, help them learn to become new people.
-Nikolay
Great cause and effect! Can you rephrase this slightly to shift it away from what the characters need and what we should we learn from their example? For ex: Both works show how the need for purpose and growth in creativity are central to becoming new people. Also, that last part--becoming new people--I'd love for you to specify what you mean by that.
DeleteIn both The Truman Show and F451, both main characters have to abandon the ones they know and they have to sacrifice their whole life for this new one they are heading to.
ReplyDeleteFantastic start! Can you take this to a Level 3 statement? For ex: Both works show how we must abandon the familiar and be willing to sacrifice our old lives in order to achieve the lives we want.
DeleteIn both The Truman Show and Fahrenheit 451, the authors highlight the fact that true happiness is not something gained through inanimate objects and fake relationships, but by finding a purpose in life
ReplyDeleteThis is a great Level 3 thesis! No revision necessary.
DeleteIn Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and The Truman Show by Peter Weir the loss of freedom and constant monitoring of the characters asks the question of how much control should people have over our lives
ReplyDeleteGreat start! To recap what we talked about in class: Form your outline, then come back to this thesis and see if you can make a more definitive response to how much control people should have in their lives, according to these texts.
DeleteThe common motif of rebirth in Fahrenheit 451 and The Truman Show demonstrates the idea that new found knowledge comes with new beginnings.
ReplyDeleteI love this connection! My one suggestion: Can you specify the two major points you see yourself making in this outline? For example, can you think of one other thing in addition to newfound knowledge that could lead to new beginnings?
DeleteIn Fahrenheit 451 and The Truman Show the authors use the characters Montag and Truman to demistraint if you can be happy in a controlled restricted world and if the happiness is real.
ReplyDeleteI really like the complex, Level 3 statement you're making here. To recap what we talked about in class: Compose your outline, then come back to this and see if you can turn the "if" into a more definitive statement.
DeleteThe Hunger Games and Truman show the corruption of power and lack of freedom when we control people for entertainment purposes.
ReplyDeleteI like the creativity and focus here. No revision needed!
DeleteIn The Truman Show and Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, both Truman and Montag reveal how fear of accepting emotions can drive us to discover what it takes to escape reality.
ReplyDeleteI love how you revised this--well done!
DeleteThe outcomes of their curiosity from both main characters, Truman and Montag, reveal that when curiosity is repressed Society can feel repetitive and bland; however, when curiosity is encouraged, it can directly lead to a person’s happiness.
ReplyDeleteAmazing revision--looks excellent!
DeleteIn 1984 and The Truman Show an extensively controlled system caused traits in some characters to rethink their ruler’s publicity, to have a lack of conformity and rebellious behavior because of the flaws built deep into the societies system.
ReplyDeleteSuch complex ideas here...my only suggestion is to try to make this a bit more concise. Which words and phrases can you cut out or reduce?
DeleteBoth Divergent and The Truman Show reveal that feeling out of place drives people to develop a sense of acceptance.
ReplyDeleteGreat cause and effect! If you wanted to add even one more component to this thesis, you could establish what people have to do to develop a sense of acceptance (how do we get from feeling out of place to feeling accepted?).
DeleteIn both The Truman Show and Fahrenheit 451, society revolves around following strict standards. Both Montag and Truman unleash their inner beliefs, revealing that determination and and stepping outside comfort zones leads to the discovery of truth.
ReplyDeleteI really like the complexity here! I think this could lead to an excellent outline.
DeleteIn both The Truman Show directed by Peter Weir and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the author demonstrates the effects of ignorance in one’s life and shows how a comfortable life is not always a life worth living.
ReplyDeleteReally well said--complex ideas. No revision necessary.
DeleteIn both The Truman Show and Fahrenheit 451 both Montag and Truman are driven to escape their world through curiosity, in result they find the truth about their societies.
ReplyDeleteI really like this cause & effect structure! My one suggestion is to rephrase it slightly so that it makes a Level 3 statement. For ex: In both works, Montag and Truman reveal that curiosity drives us to escape mundane life and find the truth about our societies.
DeleteThe Truman Show and Fahrenheit 451 demonstrate that ignorance and mindlessness can encourage shallow happiness, however in order to develop a deeper sense of purpose, being informed is vital.
ReplyDeleteSince this is posting as "unknown," please let me know who you are so I can give you credit! Whoever you are, I love this thesis! I have only one suggestion: Change the comma before "however" into a semicolon (;).
DeleteIn both Fahrenheit 451 and The Truman Show, the people within the societies have chosen to be ignorant than believe that there is a reason to die for what you believe in, letting others determine their fate.
ReplyDeleteI really like this cause & effect structure! My one suggestion is to rephrase it slightly so that it makes a Level 3 statement. For ex: Both works reveal that when people choose ignorance over believing in something important, then they allow others to determine their fate.
Deletein both fahrenheit 451 and the truman show, the main characters after living sad lives, go out and do something to change that. in 451 he hides and reads books and in the truman show he tries to escape this fae like he has been living in
ReplyDeleteGood start! Here's what I want you to do: Think about what these works want us to understand better or differently, and try to structure your thesis to assert your ideas.
DeleteIn Fahrenheit 451 and Brave New World, Bradbury and Huxley both demonstrate the importance of individuality and freedom, and without it, society is dumbed down.
ReplyDeleteGreat cause and effect idea! My only suggestion is grammatical: Instead of "and without it," maybe "because with them"?

ReplyDeleteIn both The Truman Show and F451, it is shown that being curious can lead to better quality of life and that people shouldn't trust everyone.
ReplyDeleteIn both Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and The Truman Show both characters, Montag and Truman, demonstrate the importance and risks of total control and freedom.
ReplyDeleteIn both, F451 and The Truman Show, the main characters are lacking a close relationship with their wives, who ultimately leave them in the end with no remorse.

DeleteThe Truman show and Susan Collins The Hunger Games both tell a story of a dystopian future going to far extents just for entertainment. Why do these two societies turn to such extremes for entertainment?
