Finish Step 4 and post your thesis on today's class blog. If you have been absent this week, you need to catch up by Monday.
Make sure all F451 fishbowls have been made up if you were absent. Check Infinite Campus for grades (fishbowl, Truman Show notes, journals); if you're handwriting, make sure you bring your sticky notes/journals to class each day until I check them.
In the both the Truman Show and F451, the feeling of being watched and losing their female guidance drive our protagonists o escape from their lives through a body of water.
ReplyDeleteI like how specific this is! Complex ideas here. One suggestion: Can you phrase this so that it states what these works want us to understand better or differently? For ex: Both works show how being watched and rejecting fake guidance (or false love, or whatever you want to call it) are key to escaping ...controlling society (or something else).

Scott Fitzgerald, and Ray Bradbury spin their language to assert that human nature is to fall back upon the negative, and yet there are ways to break free from a defeatist attitude; if we can learn to live in the present, go after what we want, and focus on the positive, we can stop the cycle of pessimism.

DeleteIn the movie “The Truman Show,” and the novel “Fahrenheit 451,” the author continuously chooses to question whether safety or freedom is more important by displaying themes of mindlessness, and the primal human need know what is beyond.
ReplyDeleteFantastic ideas here...my only suggestion is to solidify the connection between them. For example, can you state which one is more important according to these texts: safety or freedom? Then, you can assert how mindlessness and the primal human need to know what is beyond relate to this idea.

Great cause and effect! Can you rephrase this slightly to shift it away from what the characters need and what we should we learn from their example? For ex: Both works show how the need for purpose and growth in creativity are central to becoming new people. Also, that last part--becoming new people--I'd love for you to specify what you mean by that.

DeleteIn 1984 and The Truman Show an extensively controlled system caused traits in some characters to rethink their ruler’s publicity, to have a lack of conformity and rebellious behavior because of the flaws built deep into the societies system.
